Grave Secret Secret McQueen Book 5 eBook Sierra Dean

I thought this book series started out rather promising with a bad--ss heroin, some interesting characters and a good bit of bad-guy-clobbering. Unfortunately it is going downhill quickly.

The once bad-ass heroin spends more time moaning about her misfortunes in life or jumping into bed with various men in her surrounding than actually being a bad--ss. A lot of the time she seems to have parked whatever brain she once had somewhere in her bedroom as well.

The plot in the instalment is rather whimsical and nonsensical. Instead of a plot with a real threat and a real villain everything seems to be put together just to find excuses for Secret’s bedtime adventures which this time is bordering on porn rather than urban fantasy.

I was hoping that, once we got that silly wedding and Lucas out of the way, we would get back into some real action that did not revolve around Secret’s activities love life. I also hoped that we would get around delving further into developing Secret’s combined werewolfe and vampire powers.

Unfortunately we got nothing of the kind. If anything this book is even worse than the previous one. When Secret is not playing around in bed she lets her be tricked in a way that is so obvious for anyone with two brain cells that it made me squirm when reading it.

I have to say that I giving this series quite some second thoughts. I will probably give it one more chance but that is it.

Grave Secret Secret McQueen Book 5 eBook Sierra Dean Reviews

Who doesn't love Secret. She's the perfect heroine in the perfect series. I could not wait for this book and now that I have read it... whew. All of my favorite characters make an appearance... and some disappear. I cried and cried at some parts and laughed at Secret's witty humor at others. Holden comes on the scene and stays there...thank goodness. I was so happy to read at the end of the book that there will be a few more books in the series. I can't wait. Read it, you'll love it!!
Really starting to hate Lucas on a massive scale. The other males in this story are all falling into a really ugly stereotype of using Secret for their own agenda. Lots of threads not trying up. An interesting plot but left me feeling very dissatisfied with the characters and where this is going.
First I want to say I have enjoyed this series. However I have seen things slip a little. For example something happens at the end that was obvious in the last book. It wasn't a shock or twist. There is one good thing in this book. Secret gets some perspective on what she has.

In a way this book takes two steps back and scrambles to get back to where it was at the beginning of this book. The last third of this book was very boring. I ended up skipping through pages in hopes things get better. There is no climactic confrontation or resolution of anything. I keep waiting for the moment when Secret has to choose a side but that doesn't happen either.

She's a hybrid although I really wonder why. It's been 5 books and you can count the number of times Secret's werewolf side has done something useful. Secret made a wolf claw in her human form 1 time. You would think that she would have at least figured out how to do it again with as many times as Secret nearly dies but she doesn't. Secret already can't eat food or go in the sun or stay awake during the day. She's pretty much all Vampire but not as fast, strong, or tough. I hope the author figures out what she's doing with Secret because in this book she's just spinning her wheels.

(The Oracle is still as annoying as ever with her non answers and getting mad at Secret for changing things she had no knowledge of. I mean how can she get mad when she offers no insight and often can't see Secret's future)
I love this series! Sierra Dean does not disappoint with this latest installment of the Secret series. With each book the story line gets better and better. If you start this series (and I highly recommend you do) you will not be let down. There is action, love, loss and a female lead that grows with each book. The supporting cast will curl up in your heart to stay and you will be invested in there lives.
I waited sooo long for this book to come out and it was well worth the wait. This was a huge rollercoaster ride from start to finish and I devoured every word with relish. Loved the relationships with her guys and loved how she gave crap to Lucas at every turn. Secret is one of my fav heroines and she was outstanding in this story. I read that the next book will come out in October but I really hope it's sooner than that!
I'll always love Secret McQueen books and be a fan of Sierra Dean but this book, Grave Secret, was just too sad and sideways for me. By sideways I mean that none of her relationships ever went anywhere, in fact they kept going forward than backward and it was just depressing at times.
Also, I didn't see as much action or Secret getting into hardly any of her great fighting scenarios.
Just wasn't my favorite but like I said I'll always be a fan.
I’ve been enjoying Sierra Dean’s five tales of Secret McQueen, an extremely rare half-vampire/half-werewolf. Originally she earned a living killing vampires for the Vampire tribunal, and ignored her werewolf heritage. A few books back she killed one of the three members of the tribunal and became one of them. In the last tale Lucan a billionaire in the human world and head of New York’s werewolves jilted her at her huge society bash wedding. Now his very human sister has gone missing and the trail leads into a literal fairy land where she has to make promises to get the girl back. That leaves her with a love-lorn girl wanting to go back to her fae lover, and a Grave Secret (ebook from Samhain Publishing, Ltd which I bought) which could get her killed. I’m buying the next one as soon as it comes out. Review Published by the Philadelphia Weekly Press
